ISLAY MIST was produced on Islay in the 1920s from whiskies from the Laphroaig distillery and a selection of whiskies from Speyside distilleries.
It was originally mixed for the 21st birthday celebration of the son and heir of the then Mr. Margadale.
Islay Mist remains true to its founding recipe: an original peat blend with a characteristically balanced smoke and peat aroma, as well as layers of oak and malt.
Odor:
A subtle blend of smoky peat and seaweed.
Taste: The peat note is dominant, but is softened by a complex combination of sweet malt, salt and oak.
Finish:
The soft peat lingers on the palate, while toffee and coffee provide a bittersweet finish.
Odor:
Distinct peat smoke with hints of green apple and pear.
Taste:
Strong tobacco notes are quickly followed by sea notes, salted caramel and vanilla.
Finish:
Complex and long with fading sweetness.
The Double Peated is twice as smoky as the Original Peated Blend, with bold tobacco notes and outstanding complexity. Undeniably full of character.
Odor:
Aromas of sweet vanilla, biscuits and citrus fruits followed by a hint of peat smoke.
Taste:
Rich viscosity with a fresh, slightly fruity character followed by freshly baked bread, malt and butterscotch.
Finish:
Well rounded and wonderfully balanced with a hint of oak spice.
For the 17 Years Old, only the highest quality casks were used, in which the whisky was aged for at least 17 years. This 17-year-old whisky has wonderfully rounded notes of biscuits, sweet malt, and oak spice. A wonderfully balanced dram.
